What does United Way do? The primary job of United Way is to raise funds for local human service agencies, so these agencies can focus their time and energy on actually providing services to our community. Each United Way is a separate and distinct organization, controlled by a Board of Directors who are all local community leaders. To ensure fiscal responsibility, our financial records and internal controls are audited each year by certified public accountants. You can always be assured that money donated is carefully spent. United Way does more than raise money. The floods of 2004 brought together many organizations within our community to help families recover. United Way of Haywood County is a strong leader and partner in this continuing effort. United Way also leads the Day of Caring in our community. Hundreds of volunteers of all ages and skills come together one day each year to help their neighbors.
